Old Polybahn car finds new home

The surving 1889 car of the original Polybahn funicular, which has been leading an errant life since its withdrawal in 1996, and finally threatened with scrapping, has seen an unexpected upturn in its fortunes. The car is not only back in Zürich but appears to have finally been adopted by a caring and loving home. The car has been taken under the wings of a model steam group (Dampfmodellclub der Schweiz) and is being restored at their site on Tüffenwies in Zürich.
